We often give false credit to external things. We focus on what we have vs. who we be. We struggle to realize that how we show up in the world is what is felt and left behind, instead giving artificial importance to what we have or what we do. How we are known and experienced, is what is remembered long after we are gone and it’s worth examining how we are impacting others by first examining ourselves.
How You Experience the World Starts from Within
How you experience the world is a direct result of your internal thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. If you want to change how you experience the world, you have to start from within. You have to examine your thinking, emotions, and beliefs.
Your thoughts create your reality. Your emotions color your experiences. Your beliefs shape your perspective. If you want to change how you experience the world, you have to start with your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. Once you examine this, you can affect how you are impacting others.
The Importance of Internal Focus
Internally focused individuals are more successful because they take responsibility for their own happiness and success. They don’t rely on others to make them happy or successful. They know that they alone are responsible for creating and cultivating their own happiness and success.
When you’re internally focused, you’re more likely to be positive and optimistic because you’re not hanging your happiness on someone else or something else that’s out of your control. You’re more likely to take risks because you know that even if things don’t work out the way you hope, you’ll still be okay. You’re more likely to persevere when things get tough because you know that ultimately it’s up to you whether you succeed or fail. When you show up empowered and happy, you impact others in an empowering and positive way.
3 Ways to Become More Internally Focused
1) Recognize that you alone are responsible for your own happiness and success. Don’t depend on others to make you happy or successful.
2) Focus on your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. Change them if they’re not serving you.
3) Be positive and optimistic. Hang on to hope even when things are tough because ultimately it’s up to you whether you succeed or fail.
Internal focus is so important because it allows us to take responsibility for our own happiness and success. When we’re internally focused, we’re more likely to be positive and optimistic. We focus on our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. As a reminder, here are the three ways we make sure we are caring for our whole being: changing your thinking, attending to your emotions, and becoming more internally focused.
When we become intentional about internal focus and caring for our whole existence we find that we become more confident and secure in ourselves and the world around us.
